On Friday August 1st, my daughter stopped breathing, she almost died. She was brought in by ambulance. For that night, I was not "Lucy, the nurse" but the distraught mother.

Ericka Krefting, RN was not only my coworker but also one of the most compassionate and excellent nurses in existence. She cared for my baby girl and she also cared for me and my family. She helped keep my daughter alive and breathing and even made her smile.

Her sister was upset and crying. Ericka made her smile and laugh. She put my family at ease and trust me that wasn't easy. Her compassion and empathy really shined through.

My daughter and I were walking to ICU. She saw the DAISY award form and read it. She told me, "Please Mom we have to do this for Ericka because she made me and my sister feel better." So this nomination is not just from me but also from my two grateful daughters.
