...I feel it is necessary that I write you regarding my recent surgery. My surgery was at the Day Unit in the main hospital building in Fargo. I have had my fair share of experiences with Sanford and the Day Unit surgical clinic. Sanford should be very proud of their doctors and nurses! They are top notch and go out of their way to ensure surgery visits are quick and easy. As well as hospital stays are kept to a minimum and their patients are kept happy and comfortable.

Specifically, I want to tell you about one of your amazing nurses. I am sure I cannot be the first person to tell you this but Jennifer Kastl is simply incredible. I want you to know that I hate going to the hospital, having surgery, etc. even though I have had nothing but positive experiences with Sanford. This past December I had Gastric Bypass surgery and that coupled with nerves caused me to get a Migraine prior to my surgery and feel quite sick (I vomited several times). Luckily, after surgery my care was being administered by Jennifer. She is an absolute angel. She got me something to eat and helped me get up and walk around, all normal procedures I'm sure. But it was the way she did her job, always smiling and asking how I was. I told her about a procedure that I had done in a different state and that after the procedure they brought me a mocha to drink. Shortly after that, Jennifer brought me a mocha that I later found out she paid for with a gift card she had! How amazing is that?

Seriously, Jennifer turned a sick feeling that I had into a warm and happy memory that I will always cherish. While Jennifer's compassion and generosity will always stand out to me and forever have a special place in my heart; I know that all of the Sanford staff is a great group of people.

I don't know if this is standard procedure, but a few days after my surgery I received a thank you note from Jennifer. It absolutely made my day! Please pass on my gratitude to Jennifer and the rest of the nursing staff in the Day Unit. They are fantastic. While I hope to not see them for a while, if I have to go for surgery again I know I will be in compassionate and professional hands.
