Renata Marquez has been a nurse in Labor and Delivery for almost 2 years. She was a new graduate when she started and has exceeded so many expectations in her short time as a nurse. She has become such a valued leader on the night shift, and she has an incredible work ethic as well as natural drive in nursing and everything she does. She comes to work, takes initiative, and always puts patient care as her number one priority. She hasbecome a strong force on our Labor and Delivery Team, and she has a natural gift of teaching.
*****
Renata has been a great preceptor, I couldn't have asked for anyone better. She is kind, approachable, motivating, knowledgeable, a team player, and most of all patient.
When I first started I was nervous because I was a new graduate and this was my very first job. Renata reassured me that I was doing great and told me if I had any questions I could always go to her. She remembers what it's like to be a student and a new graduate.
Renata always made sure I was in a room that provided great learning opportunities such as my first SVD, c-section, foley bulb induction, Chorio, GDM, Preeclamptic, twins, etc. She gave me the freedom to learn on my own but was never too far out of reach if I needed her. She found the middle ground we both needed to learn together.
Renata also provided meaningful and useful feedback. She didn't just see me as a new nurse but as a future co-worker. She taught me no nurse is ever left behind. We all have each other's back and work as a unit. I believe the combination of all these great characteristics is what makes her a highly qualified preceptor, not only for myself but for future new nurses as well.
