I am deaf and I lip read which is impossible with face masks. I explained this to the RN, Mary, upon her showing me to my room. She automatically began to write-out her questions for me and "pointed" to what I needed to answer and confirm for her on her laptop. Not once did she try to rush me or make me feel like a burden. She made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. My blood pressure was very high when she took it the first time (I have white-coat syndrome) and when I finished answering all her questions and she took my BP the second time, much to my surprise, it dropped 30 points, that's how comfortable and welcome she made me feel! After my visit with the doctor, she scheduled a lab visit and a CT visit, and a follow-up visit for me since I do not have a landline for a "text"/captioned phone and cannot hear on my cellphone. She also went over what I need to do for my lab and CT so I was clear on it. I felt very blessed to have had her as my nurse! She truly radiates kindness, which is very much needed in this crazy world! She is a very Extraordinary Registered Nurse.
