RN
Hospice Skilled Nursing
Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono
Jean communicated a clear level of responsibility to the comfort of my father while also relieving as much stress on the family as possible.
Jean Korczak was truly amazing with my family member and helped us all tremendously. She has such a heart and gift for what she does. I know I can speak also for my family member though she has passed. Thank you, Nurse Jean, for your great love and service. We appreciated every bit you gave and more.

We met Jean Korczak in mid-October which was the first scheduled in-home meeting with Hospice Care for my father. Jean impressed us as a sincerely caring nurse who was committed to helping families navigate through these end-times with as much love and understanding as possible. She communicated a clear level of responsibility to the comfort of my father while also relieving as much stress on the family as possible. She was never rushed, and it seemed she would spend as much time with us as we needed. She helped set up medication schedules and coached us on administering the liquid medications while educating us on the value and purpose of each. She trained us on techniques for effectively, but gently, repositioning my dad for bathing, cleaning, sleeping, and general comfort.
We could go on describing all she did for us, which I suspect would simply sound like she was doing her job, but it was so much more to us. From day one, we knew she was the expert in the room, but she made us feel a part of the team that was focused on my dad's decision to stop treatments and comfortably aid his transition from this life. She assured us of her focus on his comfort and our understanding of all we could do to support that focus. She never belittled our questions or concerns.
In fact, she made us feel very valued and commended us on our attention to detail. In summary, we feel like Hospice sent their very best to us when they sent Jean. Her assistance and expertise were the perfect support for us in this most emotional time. We simply cannot imagine anything more that she could have done for us. We believe she is the perfect role model!
