Jim has a wide experience working with Hispanic populations and using his bilingual abilities to increase their access to vital primary care services. During his time in the BSN program, he has continued his efforts to bring equitable care to vulnerable populations through his work with Mobile Clinic and the Young Community Nurse Clinicians. During the Pediatric and Public Health Practicums, he was able to use his Spanish speaking to enhance understanding for patients, and further improve their education and understanding during their hospital stays. His work and research with vulnerable populations will help to shed light on health disparities and allow our system to provide more equitable care in the future. He also brings clinical equity to his practice with an understanding of Hispanic culture and language, which will serve him as a staff nurse and in his pursuits of a DNP in the future.
