Danielle's gentle kindness, patience, and understanding made it easier for me to understand, accept and handle the many changes to my level of care.
I was hospitalized at Rochester General Hospital and I spent several days in my room on the medical unit. I am 91 years "young" and during this time it became obvious that I was not going to be able to return home and would have to go into long-term care. As you can imagine, this caused me a great deal of anxiety and concern.
Danielle Allen was one of two nurses during this time who was an absolute blessing to me. She lifted my spirits with her wonderful sense of humor. I am hard of hearing so her gentle kindness, patience, and understanding made it easier for me to understand, accept and handle the many changes to my level of care. She added a personal touch to my care that made me feel she wasn't just my caregiver, she was a "friend" who genuinely cared about me as a person. Having to make the difficult decision with the Palliative Care team to enter long-term care was made easier with the loving care Danielle provided.
I feel in my heart that she is absolutely a DAISY Nurse and I thank you for acknowledging her compassionate, thoughtful, and loving service to me while at RGH.
