I recently visited a dear friend who was transferred to hospice care. When I arrived on the unit, my friend was being cared for by Kaitlyn Klosek. The door to the room was closed so I waited outside. As I looked through the window, I saw that Kaitlyn was caring for him. Kaitlyn came out of the room to talk to me and explained that she decided to shave my friend, she had recognized that his beard stubble was not that long and deduced that my friend was someone who was always clean-shaven. Kaitlyn also told me that she and my friend were listening to opera music because she heard that my friend liked opera.
My friend has no family. Kaitlyn treated my friend like he was part of her own family. Her caring and compassion made my friend's last hours peaceful and comfortable. Kaitlyn even reported out to the next shift nurse that he was an opera lover and made sure that the music continued. My friend passed during that shift and I know that because of Kaitlyn, he was at peace. I was so touched by Kaitlyn's efforts. Kaitlyn is a role model for each and every one of us and exemplified what is best.
