I was Anna's patient for a couple of days during my visit to TGH. I came to that room after visiting the E.R and another room in the hospital which I'm not sure what section it was but the room I was being cared for by Anna was the room I had to stay in before and after my surgery. I've never been to a hospital before and Anna found out due to me being nervous because I wasn't sure what to expect. She made sure I felt comfortable and had all the details of what to expect. She also did an outstanding job managing my pain, came to check on me often, and also provided me with the alcohol wipes I needed before surgery. She even made sure they were warm so that it was not uncomfortable with the cold air conditioning and the cold wipes.
She also made the stay pleasant by being professional, friendly, and helpful. She went the extra mile by showing that she cared about my well-being and even provided me with orange juice after my surgery and water since she knew I hadn't had any drinks or food before due to the nature of the process. Anna and I chatted about life and even Netflix shows which made it less of a robotic hospital experience. She also explained how IVs worked and made sure mine was ok and not hurting me.
My family was VERY worried for me because, due to COVID-19, I was by myself in the room and they had no way to get information from me to see if the surgery went well. Anna contacted my brother and my mom to update them on my process and how the surgery went and also asked me if I wanted to send them a message - something that my family is more than thankful for. Anna made a huge impression on my life and my family's as well, she's truly an angel and I'm glad my first experience at a hospital was with Anna's professionalism and care, she deserves this recognition for going above and beyond.
