Hector treated my Mother with such warmth and kindness. He made sure to explain everything he was going to do to her before doing it. He always gave her some type of compliment every time he came in her room.
We had the pleasure of celebrating our May DAISY for Extraordinary Nurses awarding Hector Belardo with this honor! Not only did he make a personal connection with the patient and her daughter, but he also consistently managed up his team and instilled great confidence in his patient and family member that we were providing excellent patient care.
Please read below Hector’s winning nomination:
My Mother was on the 2nd floor with a UTI and infection in her blood, she is 87 years old. We have been in other hospitals in the past, this was out 1st time here at Southern Hills. Everyone that we were in contact with was so nice and helpful. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give them all a 10.
With this helpful staff, there was 1 Nurse that stood out above everyone else, his name is Hector. Hector treated my Mother with such warmth and kindness. He made sure to explain everything he was going to do to her before doing it. He always gave her some type of compliment every time he came in her room. She is very cold natured and Hector made sure she had plenty of blankets and that she was always warm enough.
No matter what he did to her, he made sure he and whoever was helping him did it with such care to make it as painless as possible.
His concern did not stop with my mother. He made sure I had food and snacks and made sure I understood all about my Mother’s progress. Hector introduced each person that we would be working with or would be doing anything to Mother. Each person he introduced to us he bragged on their abilities. I felt like anything we needed, Hector would get.
I don’t feel like I’ve begun to give Hector the credit he deserves but I’m not good with words. I know anyone who has had Hector as a Nurse would agree that there in none better. I feel blessed that I met him, it has made me realize there are still people in this world that really care.
Thank you, Hector, for providing our patients and family members with great care and for raising the bar! We are fortunate to have you on our team!
