Mikiʻs ability to provide care to a patient by communicating to him regardless if he could respond is the act of true compassion. For many new nurses starting in the field of nursing having a conversation with patients is awkward and even more so now lacking the clinical opportunities to practice therapeutic communication during this pandemic can be limiting. The family was appreciative of the measures she took to care for their loved one and were amazed that she was a student nurse. Miki has a way of engaging with others from all walks of life and that does not escape her ability to do so with clients and families. She compassionately assisted the spouse of a client with dementia with thoughtful education and advice to provide caregiving ease.
