Jason as my nurse made the stay about me and my wife's education and comfort. His care and compassion will not soon be forgotten.
Swedish Hospital my life changed as I underwent a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure. Being in the healthcare field myself, it was very surreal when I was just given my diagnosis of severe aortic stenosis, three weeks earlier.

Upon arrival on the floor, I was immediately met by my day nurse Jason. After taking a report from PACU, and initial vitals taken, Jason settled in to carefully and succinctly explain what the next day would be like. As much for my wife as for me. He quickly ascertained her concern level and made her feel as comfortable as possible. Up until his shift change at 7:00 pm and until my fortunate discharge at noon the following day, he was a wealth of knowledge and comfort, relative to giving me perspective on what my body had been through. When time allowed we were also able to learn of each other’s families, backgrounds, and histories. In short, my stay could not have been better. Though the entire team (PT, OT, nursing staff, echocardiographer, and dietary service were exceptional) Jason as my nurse made the stay about me and my wife's education and comfort. His care and compassion will not soon be forgotten. Swedish has a jewel in him.

***

Jason, while obviously is very skilled, also goes beyond his nursing skills. He is a very inspiring person with a calm man, who went above and beyond to calm my fears of which were off the charts. I’ll make this short; my fears of doctors, needles, hospitals, anything medical contributed to me (stupidly) not seeing a doctor for years. No primary care, nothing. Also raised as a Christian scientist so I thought all my worsening symptoms would “go away” Well, I could have died.

What Jason did for me what I will never forget is I will carry his positivity and thoughts for the rest of my life. He (mostly!) eliminated fears I’ve had my whole life; I’m 64. Never did I think I would end up in the hospital for 21 days, but meeting Jason was a true blessing in my life. His encouragement and positivity are inspiring to me.
