Elena is a compassionate leader who embraces the values of nursing within our organization.
I want to convey my utmost appreciation to Elena for being such a wonderful role model. She fosters a working environment that operates on trust and mutual respect. She motivates staff members by sending words of encouragement, responding to our needs, has an open-door policy, and encouraging professional growth and development.

Elena is a compassionate leader who embraces the values of nursing within our organization. She has an open-door policy for her employees and is always there to support them when needed. I had the pleasure of having her as my interviewer when I was a new graduate nurse. During this meeting, she demonstrated her love for the nursing profession, providing me with a list of opportunities for professional development if I were to join her staff. She gave me no indication that she was a senior administrator and made me feel comfortable conversing with her. After my first night off orientation, she congratulated me and encouraged me to excel in the field. She was thoughtful enough to provide me and the other staff a granola bar to energize us on our way home. This just says a lot about who she is as a person and a leader.

I cannot think of anyone with more integrity than Elena. Her work ethic and organizational awareness make her an exemplar to follow as a novice leader. She is a sensitive and caring leader who has mastered the balance of being compassionate towards her staff and colleagues while upholding the Northwell vision and values. Her nomination for The DAISY Nurse Leader Award is long overdue. She has always encouraged our engagement. Our professional development and our consistent expansion of critical thinking are essential to Elena and our patients. She has always been supportive of continuing education and has accommodated our schedules so that we attend school. She maintains the just cultures but has always held us accountable and has emphasized our own development of problem solving and innovation. When we have had fundraisers in the past for the community, she has always been the first person to encourage the staff to participate as well as the first person to give her donations. She is always present, cheering us on, watching us grow. We are so fortunate to have such a strong, ethical, kind, leader and friend.
