Lee Ann lifts others up and helps them excel. She is not only a manager but also a leader.
Lee Ann Wise creates an environment of compassion and recognition for others and is a model of outstanding nursing leadership. Despite working under tremendous pressure throughout the COVID pandemic, leading the Emergency Department, the swabbing drive-thru, and now the vaccine clinic, through her leadership, Lee Ann has provided a haven of safety for staff, both physically and mentally.
Our nurses and staff are inspired to do their very best because Lee Ann models excellence in care and compassion and inspires staff to treat our patients and their families with a deep sense of humanity. Lee Ann is a strong clinician who leads by example, whether it's welcoming and transporting our first COVID patient at San Rafael, swabbing patients at the drive-thru, or giving shots at the vaccine clinic. She's the first to arrive and the last to leave. Lee Ann believes in promoting healthy communities and inspires her team to do the same. Equity, inclusion, and health promotion are cornerstones of Lee Ann's beliefs. Throughout the pandemic, Lee Ann came up with innovative ways to support our members and the greater community, whether it was coordinating a group of KP representatives to go to the Farmers Market and personally invite our farmers and agriculture workers to walk in for their vaccines in the hours after the market closed, sending a group to swab and vaccinate at Marin Sanitary Services, working with the Oncology department to ensure their patients and caregivers were protected prior to their treatments and procedures in a timeframe that worked for them, meeting patients at their cars in the parking lot who otherwise wouldn't be able to come in for their shots due to mobility or cognitive issues, or personally making home visits for patients who otherwise would not have been able to come in person to the vaccine clinic.
Lee Ann lifts others up and helps them excel. She is not only a manager but also a leader. She trusts her team, treats everyone with mutual respect, advocates for our personal and professional development, and is available, accessible, and responsive. Lee Ann gives her team the space to determine the best way to do the work at hand and supports by ensuring we have the resources to make it happen. She encourages us to think critically and problem-solve to better support our team and patients. You hear about ‘highly effective teams’ but we didn't understand what that truly met before working with Lee Ann. She gave us a protective wing of sorts, encouraging us to stand strong, make decisions, work together, explore, experiment, and make mistakes gracefully. Everyone should be so lucky as to work for and with a nurse leader like Lee Ann.
