Post Surgery, when I woke, he had everything ready for me including drinks, crackers, etc., and when I was nauseous he directed my breathing exercises which really helped a lot.
Any type of surgery can be scary and dangerous if it is for a broken bone or a tumor. But when it comes to eye surgery, the fear can become debilitating. I had emergency surgery for a detached retina. Steven took me back to the pre-op room and asked me if I was ok. I guess he could see the fear all over my face. Immediately he began to ease my fears, telling me I was in good hands with Dr. K, his surgical team, and with the best around anesthesia team. While starting my eye drops and IV, Steven took time to ask me questions about myself (none personal) and explained every step of his actions along the way. He smiled and joked with me, thus easing my fear. When it was time to go back into the operating room for surgery, I begged him to go back with me. He smiled and promised that when he finished up, he would look in on me during the procedure. Post Surgery, when I woke, he had everything ready for me including drinks, crackers, etc., and when I was nauseous he directed my breathing exercises which really helped a lot. For the Nurses and Doctors, that day was just an ordinary day at work but for me, it was one of the most terrifying experiences in my life! And even though I'm currently not "out of the woods" with my eye, I am truly grateful to a man who really does care about his patients.
