Dr. Lee is an inspiring educator who encourages all her students to learn about nursing research and teaches them the value of evidence-based practice across nursing settings.
Dr. Sohye Lee has maintained an active program of research to develop and test cardiovascular risk reduction program using peer support and technology for underserved minority populations while fulfilling service obligations across the college, university, and academic communities. Dr. Lee has demonstrated excellence in teaching in the graduate and undergraduate programs spanning two campuses. She has played an integral role in the development of Loewenberg College of Nursing’s (LCON) new Ph.D. program, and she developed the quantitative methodology course.

In addition to performing her job at an exemplary level, Dr. Lee demonstrates extraordinary commitment to the University of Memphis and the college of nursing as well as to the general nursing community. Through dedication and compassion, Dr. Lee provides outstanding support to students. For example, Dr. Lee works closely with undergraduate students to develop evidence-based projects to submit for the LCON Student Research Forum. She teaches and mentors Ph.D. students during their quantitative methodology course and research seminars to refine students’ research projects in preparation for their dissertation. Dr. Lee brings her research expertise to the classroom of every course she teaches. She is an inspiring educator who encourages all her students to learn about nursing research and teaches them the value of evidence-based practice across nursing settings. Dr. Lee is an incredible colleague who exemplifies teamwork and collaboration. She co-leads the LCON student Research Forum, which is an extra-curricular service that benefits students and the college of nursing toward the development of a nursing workforce with a research and evidence-based practice lens.

Dr. Lee is an idea generator. She uses her strong technology skills and innovation to consistently improve the format and promote the success of this forum. Dr. Lee is an active member of the professional nursing community. She is a member of the American Heart Association and served in 2019-2020 on the Nursing Symposium Committee. Dr. Lee is a long-standing active member of the Southern Nursing Research Committee.

In summary, Dr. Lee has made several contributions to our university. She exemplifies the mission of our college and has positively impacted students, faculty, and members of the nursing profession. Her teaching and research skills, knowledge, and willingness to help others make her an excellent recipient of The DAISY Faculty Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
