Brittany showed everyone what an asset to our team she is. She stepped up during an emergency and went above and beyond what is expected of her.
This past week there was an emergency situation in CVT with a patient who was acutely decompensating. The entire staff including respiratory therapy and the CNA were all helping in various ways. Brittany came over from ISU and asked what she could do to help. She was calling the blood bank, pulling medications, and getting supplies from our supply room. Whatever was needed. Brittany was right there to help. At the same time, a patient was being transferred to another facility via helicopter and Brittany helped facilitate getting the proper paperwork filled out and printed as that patient’s RN was involved with the other patient. She was also answering the unit phone while she was covering when the CNA was busy getting blood and supplies. When the patient was stabilized, Brittany informed that the other patients had all been given their scheduled medications by her while they were busy. The nurses were blown away and extremely appreciative. I feel like Brittany showed everyone what an asset to our team she is. She stepped up during an emergency and went above and beyond what is expected of her. Her initiative and drive should be commended, and she deserves to be recognized for her exemplary behavior. Brittany may be a newer nurse, but she shows great potential and will likely be a star given time and proper guidance. She is exactly what our team needs right now and will make our program stronger.
