I saw Rachel constantly fight for this patient and advocate for the patient's needs.
Rachel had the honor of taking care of a pregnant Covid patient. I saw firsthand the dedication, passion, and emotion Rachel put in towards taking the best care of this patient. She advocated so hard for this patient to go to the ICU to have better and constant monitoring. She was not afraid to let her voice be heard by the doctors and attendings. Rachel has been working with Covid patients since June of 2019, so she was very familiar with the signs of decline in this patient and was consistently in communication with both the attending and consulting physicians. Rachel was also always super aware of the medications and treatments she was delivering. Every time a new medication was ordered or suggested, Rachel would call either the pharmacy or Labor and Delivery to ensure that it was okay to give the medication to someone who was pregnant. Also, Rachel provided constant updates to the patient's spouse and mother, providing them with updates at least four times per shift. I saw Rachel constantly fight for this patient and advocate for the patient's needs. This was her first time dealing with a pregnant patient; this made Rachel's fight and determination go even higher. Rachel did an amazing job at providing good, quality patient care all while taking care of six other patients.
