Dawn does not hesitate to follow instincts and what is in the best interest of patients.
Dawn provides extraordinary skillful compassionate care to her patients and their families. She focuses on the whole patient, is attentive to details, and doesn't miss a cue. Dawn has astute assessment skills and addresses her findings as they occur. She keeps the physicians, charge RN, patients, and families informed if there are any condition changes or updates regarding the patients. One example of extraordinary compassionate care involved an elderly patient. Dawn admitted a patient and identified concerns for care received at home. Dawn placed a call to Adult Protective Services because she was concerned for this patient and her husband. Dawn spent much time providing necessary care to make the patient comfortable. She does not hesitate to follow instincts and what is in the best interest of patients. She has averted transfers to a higher level of care because of critical thinking and quick actions.

Dawn takes on more than caring for the patients and their families. She cares for her colleagues as well. A charge RN on a Med-Surg unit is typically responsible for calling physicians for patient condition changes and order needs. Dawns assesses patients' needs and makes calls to physicians independently. Dawn communicates action to the charge RN. She is attuned to surroundings and colleagues. Dawn does not hesitate to lend a helping hand to assist a fellow RN or PCT with their workload or to get caught up. Dawn is a DAISY Nurse because of her extraordinary compassion for others. We are blessed to have Dawn as part of our family.
