Katie came into a critically ill patient having been intubated. From the moment she came onto the unit until 3:30 am when the patient was transported out, this nurse dove right in as I watched her take over and advocate for the patient, delegate the staff and be in constant communication with the team and with tele ICU. She knew what the patient needed and was not afraid to ask for everything the patient needed. She utilized the assistance of the tele ICU nurse since she did not want to leave the patient's side as he was not stable enough. Her knowledge was exceptional in getting things done in a professional and timely fashion, she was a leader.
