Not all too often, we recall the nurses that cared for us while hospitalized. Once we leave the hospital, then we get a survey in the mail and that great RN’s name is no longer with us, so when the nurse manager brought this nomination form to me to recognize what I would say is the best nurse ever, I was delighted.

Alex was my RN. Arriving at 7 am this morning with a smile on her face and introducing herself as my RN for the day, I would never have expected that I would be filling out this form hours later. Arguably one of the most positive and kind nurses I have ever had the pleasure of being cared for by. Alex exudes happiness and compassion and demonstrates her skills in everything she does. Always announces what medication I am being given before injecting it to make sure no mistakes happen. It’s the little things that impute her diligence with every last task she engages; something you would see more often in an RN who has been a nurse for 20 years, yet Alex performs these little things every last time she arrives with medication to my room. She does not skip the mechanics involved in every task, which is so extremely important to prevent errors. It is a huge thing that gets lost all too often but not with Alex. Just an outstanding example of an RN that seems like she has done the job for years only to find out she is a new RN to Englewood.
