Trabajo como coordinadora administrativa en el Departamento de Medicina Intensiva y hace un mes y medio atrás mi madre, paciente crónica de colitis ulcerosa fue sometida a una ileostomía de urgencia en otro centro asistencial en Santiago, en donde fue dada de alta, sin la educación necesaria ni las indicaciones ni condiciones previas para manejar este tipo de situación médica, lo que nos generó momentos de mucha angustia e impotencia como familia y en especial en ella, ya que su nueva realidad estaba llena de incertidumbre y temor. Gracias a la generosidad de un grupo de personas maravillosas y tremendamente profesionales mi mamá fue atendida por el equipo de enfermería de paciente ostomizado de nuestra red en el centro de Cáncer. Más allá de su alta calidad técnica, que es indiscutible, la humanidad y amor por el prójimo con que atendieron a mi mamá le devolvieron la dignidad que había perdido en este proceso y la seguridad de que no se encontraba sola. Quisiera extender mis agradecimientos y felicitaciones a la señora E.U. Ximena Meneses, quién lidera este equipo de excelencia y en especial al equipo de Enfermeras y TENS, quienes han asistido a mi mamá desde ese día. Muchas veces nos preguntamos donde está Dios, puedo decir con certeza que ese día fuimos testigos de su presencia en este mundo. A veces debemos salir de nuestra zona de confort para saber cómo es la realidad de las instituciones de salud a nivel nacional y frecuentemente la realidad es bastante agraz comparado a lo que somos como institución.
