I am the wife of a patient in the ICU. As we sit with our loved ones, we see and hear a lot of what is going on. I witnessed something that we only hear about in a magazine or on the news. There is an older gentleman in the ICU at the end of his life. We hear the monitors beeping as his heart slows. Over the sound of the monitors, we couldn't help but hear Jennifer singing beautifully to this man as he passed. She was softly singing in his ear, holding his hand. There was no other family in the room. Just him and Jennifer. If the DAISY Award means going above and beyond, we have found it. What a gift you all have in this very special nurse.
