Infection Control Nurse
St. Mary's Home for Children
Joy sat through hours of meeting with the family listening to their concerns and did her absolute best to ease those concerns, as she worked with him.
I first met Joy when I was teaching and she was a floor nurse. She was always so friendly to each person she supported. She speaks to everyone and lets them know what she is doing or is going to do, she provides privacy and takes her time so the person remains comfortable. When she moved into her new role as infection control nurse, she took on the responsibility seriously and has helped everyone remain healthy and safe even during a pandemic. At one point shortly after accepting her new position she was asked to oversee the care of a specific person on one of the units. This resident challenged the knowledge and expertise of every nurse he had ever worked with. Joy made time to see him every morning to check his wound and provided care and continued to train nurses on how to best support this resident. She sat through hours of meeting with the family listening to their concerns and did her absolute best to ease those concerns, as she worked with him. She went above and beyond for this resident and his life was better for it. This is only one example of many that Joy has over her years here. She wants the best care for the people who live here and holds other nurses to the highest standard to achieve that care. St. Mary's is lucky to have such a dedicated and caring nurse on its team.
