I felt like I had a lifeline to him and there was another person at the end of it who cared about him as much as I did.
My husband went in for outpatient surgery for a mass on his appendix. The surgery went longer than expected and it was Perioperative Nurse Nicole M. Anderson who first called me to explain what happened and that they were admitting my husband to the hospital. When Nicole realized no one had yet told me this she was immediately apologetic and said she would get the doctor to call me asap which is exactly what happened.
She was kind and compassionate from the start. She gave me her number and said to call her anytime. When I called a few hours later for an update she answered her phone and told me she was working on managing my husband's pain and getting his blood pressure down. I felt like I had a lifeline to him and there was another person at the end of it who cared about him as much as I did. When I dropped off supplies for him to have in the hospital Nicole came down to my car personally at the front of the hospital so I wouldn't have to get out and deal with COVID restrictions and come into the hospital and worry about all of that. She told me she would call me at the end of her shift just to check-in. And she did.
I can only imagine the stress these nurses are under with what they have to do in constantly changing situations and with COVID concerns layered on top. I was blown away by the concern care and support Nicole showed towards my husband and me. I so appreciate everything she did to keep my husband comfortable and alleviate unnecessary worry on my part. Nicole went above and beyond the call of duty and both my husband and I wish to thank her from the bottom of our hearts.
