Danielle’s constant commitment to quality and patient care led to saving this patient’s leg and potentially life.
Danielle Ploof is dedicated to quality, safety, and patient care. Danielle started her career as a CNA on the CV Care Unit. Even as a CNA, she was committed to making sure all her patients were cleaned, bathed, and had the appropriate turns and skin interventions performed. Danielle was dedicated to providing excellent patient care and held other CNAs to this same standard.

After graduating from Nursing school, Danielle worked her way from a new graduate nurse to an informal leader on the unit. She is now one of our top Resource Nurses, a preceptor and the co-lead of our CV Care Quality Committee. Danielle is always searching for new projects, interventions and education for skin and fall prevention. She is a wealth of knowledge on the unit for newer nurses and is always willing to teach. Danielle has always been extremely diligent in her charting, patient care, and assessment skills.

One great example of this happened when Danielle was reviewing discharge instructions with her vascular surgery patient, when the patient complained of pain. Instead of just attributing the pain to the surgical site and continuing the discharge process, Danielle grabbed the doppler and performed an assessment. The patient had lost her pulses and threw a clot. She was emergently taken to the operating room for a thrombectomy and remained hospitalized for several more days on a heparin drip. Danielle’s constant commitment to quality and patient care led to saving this patient’s leg and potentially life. Our patients are safer due to her unwavering dedication to quality.
