Laura demonstrates her passion for patient care and goes above and beyond for the comfort of her patients. Laura received this nomination from the family of a patient suffering from Parkinson's dementia. The patient was missing his dog as his constant companion and continually tried to get out of bed to pet the dog. He was unable to sleep and increasing in restlessness. Concerned for his safety and trying to comfort him, Laura worked with a team member who made a dog out of a towel. Laura gave it to the patient who held it in his arms, petted it, and immediately calmed down and fell asleep. The family stated it is such a blessing to have such kind, loving, and thoughtful nurses going above and beyond. Laura has a soft touch and gets to know her patients and family members and goes beyond the medical needs to reach the emotional needs of her patients as well.
