Monika consistently demonstrated the ultimate of professionalism. Her kindness in introducing herself to the patient and family, quickly put the patient at ease. She always kept everyone informed when things changed. Monika was an excellent educator of medications and procedures. We never thought she rushed or was anxious to leave the room. Once she crossed the door threshold, her focus was the patient, her comfort, and her surroundings, and respectfully including family involvement. In this case, the patient is 88 years old and very hard of hearing. Monika was very patient in repeating herself until the patient understood. We believe Monika is an excellent representative of what the Nurse role offers in patient care. Her knowledge, ability to educate, caring demeanor, skills, and treating the patient as a true advocate should be acknowledged. Monika made a difficult situation bearable.
