Von was our nurse. Immediately she related in a professional and caring way to both myself and my wife. She explained everything she did and had an awareness of my needs, which made an immediate, positive connection. Von matched my mood and always had time to listen to a joke when she came into the room. She told me what medicines she was giving me which was reassuring. Any question I asked she answered in a manner that I understood.

Friday was a long day. We were waiting for a doctor all day. Von offered assistance by asking the nurse leader to come and talk to us about what he could do to help. This was an example of how she supported us physically and emotionally. On Saturday we were so happy to see Von again. She felt like family to both me and my wife. She listened and took the time to find out what I needed. Saturday was another long day, but we finally saw the specialist. We were so happy to find out that Von was going to be our nurse on Sunday. I knew I would get the care I needed as well as the light moments that helped make the day go by faster. I can honestly say Von was God-sent. She brought light and love into the room which was exactly what I needed. As an LPN studying to be an RN, she was the finest example of a bedside nurse.
