Colleen is the definition of a super nurse. She advocates for her patients, mentors, staff members, and helps out whenever it is needed for patients who are not a part of her assignment. She has accepted new staff with open arms and is constantly showing everyone what it means to be an outstanding nurse. She treats patients as if they are a part of her family, always advocating for what they need through conversations with family members and physicians.

Colleen has had so many families recognize her over the years it is difficult to remember all of them. One that stands out is the patient that was here for an extended stay during the COVID surge and was extremely ill. Despite all odds, he recovered and an article was written about him at work where he recognized Colleen. He stated that her encouragement to fight helped him stay strong to get back to his family. Colleen goes out of her way to celebrate staff, their babies, birthdays and going away parties. All while having a shining personality that makes this unit a special place to work. Colleen encompasses all aspects of a DAISY Award recipient.
