The compassion, knowledge, and patient-centered approach Lisa took in ensuring the best care for that patient and ensuring their skin was prevented from further damage was really inspiring.
Lisa is an outstanding member of the team. I joined the Trust in August of this year, coming from a predominantly Higher Education background having not worked for a period of time due to studying. From the begining, Lisa advocated at my interview how amazing the Trust is and its number of employees. Whilst every interviewer does promote the positives of their employer, it was clear to me how passionate Lisa felt about the NHS and LTHT.

Since I have undertaken my position, Lisa has given me one-to-one training, constantly been at the end of a phone, or email to explain things. Her training style is incredible. For example, I asked her even just recently about some kind of air mattress listed in a Safety Checklist, and she could have given me a simple overview. But instead, Lisa took the time to explain to me this style of mattress its use and why. She has taught me all about pressure ulcers, how they develop, lots of imagery to help me understand the differences in the grades. She takes this really personalised approach to you which is incredible. I was in a meeting with Lisa once and the phone rang, it was about a patient who had developed a PU but was clearly a very complicated case. The compassion, knowledge, and patient-centered approach Lisa took in ensuring the best care for that patient and ensuring their skin was prevented from further damage was really inspiring. Hearing how she spoke and was immediately talking about how she was going to collaborate with wider teams even outside of LTHT for advise given the acuity of this patient was really inspiring to me and further demonstrates her passion for her job and patients.

From a personal perspective, since starting the Trust I have had some issues regarding my own personal health, and whilst my own line manager is great, Lisa has given me so much advise outside of her own working hours or remit to help me. Some of her suggestions may have been simple supplements to try to combat my symptoms but she constantly checked in with me and still does!

Recently my daughter was taken ill, and I text Lisa for advise. I did not want to overwhelm our services further but was at a loss at what to do. She gave me great advise from a friendly perspective and as a result, I got my daughter the care she needed. But during the time of this whilst at work Lisa checked in with me to see how I was feeling, asked about my daughter, and was just a good listening ear.

I love working for LTHT, but as an admin staff in a predominantly clinically-based department, it is sometimes hard to find where your place is or identify a belonging with the team your supporting administratively. Lisa has always made me feel part of her team and my skills and abilities are as worthwhile. She has given me self-confidence, told me to believe in myself, and has given me so many ideas to develop myself further. I recently had the option to have a job outside this current department. I was considering taking this as it was more related to my previous background. I approached Lisa for impartial advise as I had been offered a role in this current department too but was unsure. This new role in my current department would be challenging but would require me to undertake more management which I was not sure I am capable of. I thought I would be rubbish at it but Lisa made me see how our areas of weakness can sometimes be turned into strengths and helped me feel more sure I was capable. I decided to stay in Corporate Nursing because I realise what I can do for the team and the team for me. Lisa, you have grown my self-confidence immensely and because of you and lots of other people, I am so happy to work for my CSU. You really deserve recognition for the amazing TV Lead nurse you are as your knowledge emanates from you, you are passionate, engaged, and truly love your job and it shows! You’re amazing at what you do for the patients and what you have done for me. I am truly thankful to get to work with you!
