Yvonne Mckay is an RN in our St. Joseph Pain and Spine Clinic. In every interaction with her, I have observed exceptional kindness and compassion with her teammates and the patients she takes care of. Never did I think that I would be in a position where my loved one needed her care while going through a scary and intense procedure, but recently I found myself in that position. My loved one had been experiencing excruciating pain in her neck and shoulder area due to an injury and couldn’t get permanent relief from physical therapy or over-the-counter pain medications. Feeling as if she had no other options, so made the appointment with the pain clinic. With fear and hope, she was brought back into the exam room to prep for the procedure. Throughout the entire process, Yvonne was calm, patient, understanding, and kind. She attended to my loved one’s every need and took time to reassure her through the procedure and recovery. Yvonne took note of her every need from bringing her a blanket when she was cold after the procedure to wiping the tears of joy that streamed down her face. Yvonne is a wonderful example of someone who not only loves what they do but that her job is part of who she is. Yvonne is someone who makes a difference in patients' and family members’ lives and it is truly a blessing to have her on the team.
