I would like to send all the compliments to Drew, RN, in the Emergency Department. My son fell ill at 5 weeks old and I took him to a local hospital. We were admitted there for a few days and then transferred to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center ER. As a Dartmouth Hitchcock nurse myself, I knew we were going to the right place, but the fear that I felt as a first-time Mom watching my son be loaded into that ambulance was indescribable.

When we arrived at the Emergency Department, Drew met us in my son’s room and took him from the paramedics immediately. I felt instantly at ease under his care and knew that my son was in the best of hands. Drew was extremely knowledgeable and showed his kindness from our first interaction. During our long day in the ER, Drew was our nurse, caregiver, advocate, and therapist, and truly seemed like the friend we needed in that moment. He repeatedly checked in with us to ensure that my son, husband, and I were holding up well. He advocated for my son when every test showed good news but left us with no answers. My son ended up being admitted and diagnosed with a GI condition that required surgery.

We have met many amazing healthcare workers along the way, but we will always remember Drew and his compassion. My family and our sweet 5-month-old who is just thriving now thanks to you!
