During every encounter, Tyler made B feel special, strong, unique and understood.
One night I was very frustrated with my daughter’s recovery, and I walked out of the room and heard singing. I noticed Tyler in an infant’s room rocking and singing to this child to comfort him/her because the parents were not around. The sight of this warmed my heart and changed my frustrations. This to me was beyond what a nurse is supposed to do, more than empathy. Truly amazing!
My daughter suffers from ADHD, PTSD, GAD, and depression which is not why she was at the hospital but definitely impacted the visit. B has a fear of needles and does not trust anyone too easily. One night during B’s stay, she was having a bad night. To make matters worse, her IV went bad. Tyler to the rescue! He came in, made B comfortable, and she trusted in him in such a short amount of time, she allowed him to put in a new IV and that was the beginning of her relationship with this amazing nurse and individual. He shows such amazing love to all those he comes in contact with and has a special talent for turning frowns upside down.
During every encounter, Tyler made B feel special, strong, unique and understood. Tyler was never actually B’s nurse, that to me makes it even more so an amazing experience in a very upsetting situation. My daughter was here for a month and it was a roller coaster ride with many obstacles but there was always a little sunshine through the dark times and he had a name: Tyler.
P.S. My daughter thinks he is amazing and so cool as she says, "He has a special glow and energy!’”
