It is with great honor and privilege that the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL) recognizes Donna Kistler, MS, RN with The DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. Donna completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree in 1973. Since becoming a Registered Nurse, Donna has served the community as an Administrative Nurse, Director of Critical Care, Progressive Care, Telemetry, and Patient Care Services. She has functioned as Associate Chief Nursing Officer/Director of Nursing Operations in addition to serving as a Nursing Consultant in multiple health care systems, assisting them in enhancing nursing services. Donna also served as Interim CEO for the Association of California Nurse Leaders from April to August of 2017 and again from March 2020 to February 2021. Donna has been a member of the ACNL since 1983, serving on the Board of Directors, numerous committees, and task forces. She has been an instructor for the Foundations for Leadership Excellence, a weeklong course provided by ACNL to provide emerging nurse leaders with tools to optimize performance in health care administration. Donna has served as a role model for many up-and-coming nurse leaders and has served as a mentor through ACNL’s mentorship program “MentorLead” for multiple years. Donna is a strong advocate for nursing and has a passion for assuring that nurses are well regarded as the profession that makes invaluable contributions to health care, and that the professional and ethical responsibility of being an RN is well understood and is manifested in the highest quality patient care. Donna has dedicated her career to quality patient care and the development of high-quality nursing professionals. Donna is truly an example of an exemplary nurse leader, and we are honored to recognize her with this DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.
