I lost an entire night’s sleep watching Kaitlin care for the man in the bed next to me. It was the best night’s sleep I have ever lost and perhaps the most conscious of my life. Her combination of competence and compassion toward this poor man may have saved his life. Her endless patience and constant words of comfort and reassurance and her skill at the treatments given were so inspirational. When it came time to attend to my meager needs they were attended to with the same good humor we enjoyed the whole time she was my nurse. We laughed a lot together and each time she entered the room, my spirits soared. At the end of her shift, I asked if I could have another room since I had no desire to have another sleepless night. As tired as she must have been, she found one. I could never say enough good things about this splendid human being, nurse, and professional.
