Christopher's patient only spoke Spanish, and he tried to speak Spanish and it made the patient happy.
I want to recognize Christopher Wright for the following reasons:
• There is always a smile on this student’s face, whether in clinical or in class.
• At the bedside, the student does a complete job – vitals, assessments, meds, has dialogue with the patient, fixes the patient in bed, clears the bedside table, empties the urinal/foley bag, raises the head of the bed, fixes the patient’s hair and makes sure the patient has the remote, call bell and cell phone (charging) in their hands or on the bed within reach.
• This student shows initiative to speak to the staff nurses, the unit clerk, and the providers – MD, PA, or NP about the patient and any past or upcoming procedures/tests.
• In the clinical site, the student’s patient only spoke Spanish, this student tried to speak Spanish and it made the patient happy.
• A patient wanted to read the newspaper, this student asked to go outside to get the patient a newspaper so the patient “can get back to his regular routine”.
• A patient that did not belong to this student or any Hostos student asked this particular student if she can use his iPhone charger if he has one – the student gave her a charger to keep, saying that he has three in his bag.
