Dana is such a caring nurse. One day when she was on duty, she took care of a homeless man. The patient was Covid positive, seen outside the hospital, and discharged the day before. On his arrival today, it was 30 degrees outside. The patient was again discharged, but Dana did not think it was the right thing to do. She advocated for the patient; Dana took the time to call Covid shelters for the homeless with the help of the social worker. Dana gave the patient toiletries. She wanted to make sure he had medication to bring with him to the shelter, so she took his prescription to outpatient pharmacy and paid for his medications. I consider this the extra mile in helping a patient. This man was very lucky to have Dana as his nurse. She also made sure he was fed while he waited for transport to bring him to a warm, dry shelter to recover from Covid. This is Dana's third DAISY Award at Ochsner Kenner.
