In December of 2020, my husband and I entered L&D. I was 30 weeks pregnant and Covid positive. We came to have our baby monitored and quickly learned he no longer had a heartbeat. Grief-stricken and in shock, we began the induction process. Avery was one of our nurses during that experience. She helped us feel as comfortable as possible, even scouring the hospital for a portable fridge since we were not allowed to leave the room with the Covid protocols. Her positive bedside manner and kindness really helped us in our moment of need.

In May of 2022, we arrived again at L&D. This time, to deliver our second baby. Avery greeted us again and we were so happy to see her. She asked about our first baby, what we named him, looked at pictures, and encouraged us during our few hours with her that shift. We had a bit of a hectic birth and were transferred to Mom & Baby. She stopped by to check on us two days later when she was back on shift. Her thoughtfulness to go out of her way to come see us in another wing, meet our baby and see how we were doing meant the world. She is a special nurse indeed. We are grateful that both of our children were under her care.
