I know you know this, but I just wanted to say that Amanda Martinez is an amazing nurse and human. Today she answered the telephone and it was a patient that could not be seen by her OB/GYN. They were refusing to see her b/c she had an order for a COVID test that the patient had not completed. The patient had gotten it performed at Walgreens instead. Because the patient still had an open order, they refused to see her. Instead of just telling the patient that she was unable to see the order and dismiss it, she took the patient’s name and number and told her she would work on it. Despite the fact that this had nothing to do with the ER or Amanda’s job, she started making phone calls to see how she could get this test canceled for the patient. It is this kind of “above and beyond” behavior that Amanda displays every day.

This is not the first time we have worked on a problem for a patient that was long since been discharged from the ED. Instead of the attitude of “this isn’t my problem”, She has the attitude of “how can I help?”. It is a pleasure to work with her every time!
