Catharine exemplifies what the DAISY Award stands for. She has been providing care and support to my wife (and me) for the entire time my wife has been in the hospital. She has been an outstanding nurse during this time. My wife says she is a role model for all nurses. She has provided care and guidance for her whenever she has been on duty. My wife says it was almost like having a private nurse. She always showed compassion and a can-do attitude.

When my wife was having back issues, Catharine ordered another bed with a softer cushion; when my wife was to get a blood transfusion, she stayed beyond her shift to ensure all the paperwork was complete and that the next duty nurse had everything set up. She helped my wife get in and out of bed with a smile and a joke. Always cheerful. We were so impressed that we wanted to recognize her professionalism and caring attitude. We found the DAISY would be a step to recognize her as an outstanding nurse that she is.
