5 Main is a crucial med/surg/trauma floor here at our hospital, and I don’t believe this floor would run the way it is able to without this one special nurse. She is known by so many here at the hospital because she is always communicating and collaborating with all the different floors, treatment teams, and other hospital services. She has been here longer than many of us. She is always positive, and her main goal is patient safety, satisfaction, and healing while being the backbone for her teammates. We know we are never alone when she’s here. Not only that, but she will come in on an off day in a split second if she thinks her teammates are in a bind. She celebrates her teammates’ accomplishments and milestones like birthdays and is constantly bringing snacks, food, and even gifts to her co-workers, making us feel truly like a family. She won’t hesitate to bring concerns to the directors’ attention, and her attendance is perfection! She inspires me to be a better nurse and she is an all-around excellent example of what the healthcare profession should strive to be. Her compassion and hard work should be recognized.

I would like to nominate a very special nurse for the DAISY Award because she deserves to be recognized for the compassion that she shows her patients. We had a patient that was on our unit for months. Well, during her stay, she had an upcoming birthday and anniversary, and this nurse went out of her way to purchase flowers that the patient had mentioned she liked, she even ordered dinner for the patient and their husband to enjoy on their anniversary night! On the patient’s birthday, she got her some balloons and more flowers with a card signed by the whole unit! I think she truly deserves this Award!
