She went on her days off, using her own funds to purchase new outfits for the patient.
Dr. T and I were talking the other day about a patient we recently had on 3A. I believe you know the patient well. While talking about it, we were both really impressed with Tammy Manea’s love and care for the patient. Tammy and her team cared for the patient during an extended hospital stay. The patient had special needs and was at times incredibly challenging. She required extra attention from the nursing staff and other health care team members. The patient arrived with no personal belongings, not even clothing. Tammy being the charge nurse, assigned herself to care for the patient on many of her shifts. She went on her days off, using her own funds to purchase new outfits for the patient. Tammy also bought the patient her favorite snacks and replenished them for several weeks. Another team member even brought the patient a suitcase. When the patient finally left for the nursing home, she had a suitcase full of clothes to take with her. This brought a great deal of happiness to the patient. She was so proud of her new clothes. She also LOVED her snacks. When she’d run out, she’d tell everyone she knew she had some more somewhere. Tammy really went above and beyond for this patient.
