I would like to recognize Amanda Pepe after hearing how kind she was to a patient and their family surrounding the time of the patient's passing. Amanda kept the patient comfortable and woke up the patient’s mother when she knew the patient would pass shortly. She stayed with the patient's mother and comforted her after his passing. She looked up funeral homes for the family and she stayed later after her shift to bring the patient to the morgue because the patient’s mother did not want the patient to be left alone. Amanda treats patients as if they were her own family. She is extremely caring and compassionate. I am very lucky to have her as a co-worker and would want her to take care of me or my loved ones if they were in the hospital. She represents what it means to be an NYU nurse and a DAISY Nurse.
