My father had a double femoral stent procedure. His nurse, Diane Koster, was nothing short of incredible. Her every action was reassuring, professional, and friendly. While he was overly satisfied with the treatment he received from her, this compliment comes from me. Having had some trying interactions with Hackettstown Medical Center when my mother was at the end stage 9 years ago, I have been apprehensive. It is difficult for me to put the experiences I had behind me, but since my father's medical team functions primarily from HMC, I have dealt with that circumstance and gone with the location.

When I was contacted by Diane after my father went into recovery, I was astounded by the level of humanity she portrayed. She updated me on his status and assured me that he went through the procedure with ease and was in good shape. I went to the hospital to pick him up, following the instructions Diane gave. As I walked towards the unit, Diane was actively looking for me to escort me to the area where my father was. She was engaging and highly personable as if she knew me for a long time. Her genuine demeanor and heartfelt words were very comforting, and I realized that she does not just treat patients. She treats people and makes every effort to learn about them and their families.

She knew so much about my dad, my late mother, and me. She identified with us, knowing that my dad and I have such a strong relationship and what it is based on. She listened to my father. She took the time to get to know him and reassured both of us the entire time. Her sense of humor is amazing as well. Diane took the worry out of the equation. Her wit and ability to relate to our situation made all the difference. She put our minds at ease with the instructions for when he went home and let us know that everyone would be available to answer any post-procedure questions and concerns. You have a tremendous asset in Diane; she made such a difference!
