I wanted to tell you about a wonderful experience I had at Clifton Springs today. There was a patient with an abscess in the hall in the ED and it was full so I didn’t even have a place where I could examine the patient. I had just finished cases and asked Karen, the lead nurse, if I could bring her over to PACU to examine and do an I and D under local anesthesia in the OR. She did not hesitate and said, "Yea." We brought the patient over, examined her, and brought her to the OR where the entire staff was great. They exhibited compassion and excellent patient-centered care. Karen and Kelly were the nurses in the room and the surgical tech was also great. This is an example of how health care should be provided- what is best for the patient. I was proud today to be a surgeon in this system. I thanked them wholeheartedly but wanted to recognize their efforts and great care!
