I had Tas as a bedside nurse for my daughter while she was in the hospital due to seizures. My experience with her was wonderful. Tas was so very open and caring. I felt a sincere connection with her. I got the impression that she wasn’t just doing a job but truly liked to help people and help them solve their problems.

When my daughter was admitted to the Children's Hospital, I was significantly concerned about how she was doing and if the medications and medical therapies she was receiving would create any long-term or short-term problems. The doctors were always so busy, and I did not want to bother them. I decided to bring it up with Tas because she was so compassionate, so kind, and so approachable. Tas went over the medications with me in detail and reassured me about her treatments, even though I knew she was very busy with other complex patients, and I was taking up a lot of her time. She eased my anxiety about the issue, and I was so appreciative of all the time and energy she spent with me and my sick daughter.

Later that day, the supervising doctor came and went over her case, the medications, and information on her overall care with me in detail. The supervising doctor told me that Tas had gone the extra mile of speaking with the medical team about all my questions and Tas had advocated for me and my daughter. She went the extra mile even though she had already spent so much time and energy with me going over all the questions I had. She is a truly amazing nurse and person. She treated my daughter and me like we were her family. She is the type of person I would want my daughter to grow up to be like. She puts others before herself when instead of just doing her normal nursing tasks she went above and beyond explaining the medications and treatments in detail to me. She is patient and listened to all my questions and fears and addressed/reassured me about my daughter's care.

She advocated for her patient and family (a non-medical, shy mother) who did not want to bother the physicians and she had them explain to me in non-medical jargon what the medical plan was for my daughter. She cared for my daughter and me as people and respected us throughout our stay in the hospital. I am writing this because there is no way I can truly thank her. I am sure she went home, and it was just another workday for her, but it was a day that impacted my daughter and me greatly. It makes me so happy that she is a nurse who is impacting so many other sick patients and worried families.
