When a team member is struggling, Kathy can identify their needs, provide hands-on support, schedule accommodations, and frequently check on team members.
ENGAGE through collaboration and communication: Kathy works tirelessly to improve professional development and uplifts the mood and ambition drive of CMC employees regardless of their department. On any given day, you can witness employees from all departments, such as environmental services, EPD/transportation, food and nutrition, CNAs, and nurses from all areas coming to Kathy’s office for guidance, advice, and peer support.

EMPOWER our team members: Kathy has been the sole reason for many nurses like myself to advance their nursing educations by completing a master’s or doctoral program to become nurse practitioners, nurse educators, and future nurse leaders. As a mentor, Kathy works with future nurse leaders to develop skills in communication, empathy, strategic planning, and fiscal responsibility with others. When a team member is struggling, Kathy can identify their needs, provide hands-on support, schedule accommodations, and frequently check on team members.

EXECUTE results: Kathy has maintained an average of 95% for the last several surveys with associate satisfaction. She has continuously met a minimum of 5 out of 8 Magnet required NDNQI benchmarks for a minimum of 5 out of 8 quarters for the last several years across two separate units. This leader remains a recruitment and retention task force member, a Together as One Peer Support Ambassador, and has an extensive work history within CMC. Kathy worked as the Director of EVS, a Nursing Supervisor, and an Assistant Emergency Room Department Manager from 1999-2001. She helped open the Pediatric Emergency Department and the Clinical Operations unit manager for various departments.

TRANSFORM our Culture: Kathy has been with Advocate Christ Medical Center for over 45 years, during which she has primarily served as a leader in various roles across the hospital. This leader exhibits all traits of a transformational leader, including exceptional emotional intelligence, a consistent presence on our floor, compassion, instills trust, fosters resilience, and drives engagement. Kathy is finishing her final year at CMC before her pending retirement in 2023, and I genuinely believe that she is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
