Her calm, gentle touch, voice, tone, and her assuredness helped me get through this.
I want to talk about my very special angel, Marilou. She was my RN for the first 3 nights, the scariest, most painful, and nausea that came in waves, I was near panic. Her calm, gentle touch, voice, tone, and her assuredness helped me get through this. And she’d help me, and I knew it immediately, and despite the physical assaults on my body, my spirit was calmed. I was able to relax. Just a bit, but that bit led to another bit, and another, and then they found the drug to stop the nausea, the pain drugs took hold, and I was able to breathe deeply again, calmer, dare I say happier, ready to face the daunting challenges of the days ahead! I’ll briefly mention that my family was assured by seeing her gentle care of me, but also by my telling them that I felt safe and well-cared for, they were able to leave me, and go home to rest. A very difficult thing to do when your mom is that ill, please understand. Marilou made sure that they had a contact number, and said to please use it, and they did, to be assured through the night that I was comfortable and not scared. I’ve run out of words; I believe I’ve said enough.
