Karen is the only children's continence nurse in the trust and has demonstrated over the years that I have known her great determination to care for all the children who are on her caseload a great deal of empathy and determination to get it right for them in ensuring they get the right information regarding toilet training or continence products. She initiates with the MDT on getting children who have special needs dry and not requiring any continence products. Families who have been through Karen's programme have praised Karen's determination and thoughtfulness, in giving them endless encouragement when trying to get their child dry both during the day and also at night. Karen embodies the Trust Values and will go out of her way to resolve problems for families. She is very much a reflective practitioner who wants to do the very best for the children and young people on her caseload. I feel that Karen embodies all that the DAISY Award stands for.
